First of all, an apology.
It has been some time since we last updated you, and you may have been left wondering what has been happening behind the scenes. We had hoped to be in touch sooner, but negotiations with the current freeholder are taking longer than anticipated and, while progress has continued, we are limited in what we can currently share publicly.
The good news is that the campaign is very much alive and active. The committee has continued to meet regularly and work to explore the best route forward for securing The Trafalgar’s future through community ownership.
While we are not quite ready to share full details, we are now reaching a point where we can hold a second community meeting to update everyone on the campaign and next steps. Subject to progress over the coming weeks, this meeting will also be where we formally launch our community share offer.
Please save the date: Wednesday 9 September (7pm – 9pm) @ St John the Divine Church
This will be an important milestone for the campaign and we hope as many of you as possible will be able to join us.
We appreciate that periods of silence can be frustrating, particularly when there has been so much enthusiasm and support since our first meeting. We do not take this for granted, thank you for your patience and continued belief in the vision of securing The Trafalgar as Merton’s first community-owned pub.
We look forward to seeing you in September and sharing more about the exciting work that has been taking place behind the scenes.
As a minor point, we will not be holding our CBS surgery this coming Monday (3 August) as the team are getting together to prepare for the share offer.
